FC United of Manchester was proud to host the inaugural Business Club event of the 2025/26 season on Tuesday evening, sponsored by new club partners Slater Heelis Solicitors.
More than 60 business delegates attended for an evening of networking, insight, food (courtesy of Blackstone Catering), and football – rounded off with FC United claiming a hard-earned point against fellow Northern Premier League side Morpeth Town.
Hosted by club co-owner Dave Ashurst, the event featured the poem Our Club, Our Rules by Louise Machen, along with presentations from Debbie Coyne of Slater Heelis (From Flexibility to Fairness – Understanding the Future of Zero Hours Contracts), FC United General Manager Frances Fielding, Greater Manchester Careers Lead Cate Calverley, and spotlight profiles from Laura English (Manchester Youth Zone) and Gary Sams (Fusion for Business).
Nick Boom, Chairman of FC United of Manchester, said:
“A huge thank you to Slater Heelis for being such a big part of our journey. Their support goes far beyond sponsorship – this partnership helps us keep building a football club that puts community first. It shows what’s possible when business and sport come together with shared values. We’re proud to have them alongside us.”
Rachel Fletcher, Managing Partner at Slater Heelis and Business Club sponsor, said:
“The Business Club is such a unique experience – where else can you connect with fellow professionals, enjoy proper pie and chips, and then watch a football match together? It was fantastic to be back at Broadhurst Park, which now feels like home. The energy in the room, the brilliant speakers, and the shared ethos between Slater Heelis and FC United left me truly inspired. We’re delighted to be part of this journey.”
FC United is 100% fan-owned – a club built on people, passion, and purpose. We’re here to make friends, not millionaires.
