Founder member and former FC United Board member Matthew Haley is fundraising for the Development Fund by running the New York City Marathon in November and you can sponsor him now.
Matt said: “After years of press-ganging red-hearted heroes into running the London Marathon to raise money for the Development Fund, I’ve decided I should step up to the plate and do one myself.
“So, on Sunday 5th November I’ll be taking on my first – and last! – marathon in New York. I know times are tough for many of us during the continuing cost of greed crisis, so I’d really appreciate it if you can donate whatever you can afford to our club so that we can continue all the good things we do.
“It’s without doubt the hardest thing I’ve ever done, and New York is regarded as one of the toughest major marathons due to having to run up several bridges and hills, but your support will really spur me on to complete the 26.2 miles, even if I have to crawl.
“I’m taking my inspiration from fellow Development Fund marathoners George Baker, Andrew ‘Mack’ Whitehead, and Jimmy Deadman, as well as every supporter, member, volunteer, staff member and player who has poured their heart and soul into our club over the last 18 years.”
