FC United appoint two non-executive directors – Bhavna Mistry and Gemma Avery to the Board

As co-owners will be aware, the club’s constitution allows for up to seven Board directors and we were keen to secure an experienced commercial and marketing professional to join the board as a director with a specific focus on the club’s commercial activities – particularly given the importance of driving commercial income to the club’s three year business plan. As a result, we put a call out to co-owners in March and also looked outside the club for candidates.  

Both are excellent additions to the board as Bhavna has a strong commercial background and Gemma is a specialist in communications and marketing. Bhavna will therefore become the board lead for commercial activities and Gemma will be the lead on communications and marketing.     

Bhavna is an experienced commercial director having been a non-executive director or advisor for several organisations and, until recently, she was an executive director for product marketing across Europe and North America for a locally based multinational manufacturing company with a turnover of more than £1 billion.  

Gemma is a strategic marketing professional who is currently the Marketing and Communications Manager for Active Lancashire and is responsible for developing the organisation’s marketing strategy and communications activity. In addition, Gemma also works with The Fan Experience Company to support clubs to improve their overall match day experience for fans and families. Gemma has previously worked in football-based marketing roles at the Manchester Football Association, Arsenal FC and Burnley FC. 

Bhavna and Gemma attended their first Board meeting on Monday 26^th June, joining Warren Heppolette, Dave Ashurst and Paul Butcher. We’re sure you will join us in welcoming Bhavna and Gemma to FC United and wish them well in their new roles.
