FC United appoint Danny Davis as the club’s new Commercial Manager

FC United of Manchester are delighted to announce Danny Davis will join the club next month in the key role of Commercial Manager.

Danny joins the club to take over from Frances Fielding who is leaving to join Manchester United.  His brief is to be responsible for all commercial aspects of the club, including advertising and sponsorship, merchandise, events and hospitality and developing long-term partnerships.

Danny is a Lancashire lad, born and raised in the red rose county. He has worked across a range of corporate businesses and has a wealth of commercial experience in football, serving 8 years as Commercial Manager at Blackburn Rovers FC where he sold hundreds of thousands of pounds of advertising and sponsorship deals. Most recently Danny has worked for the global company Sodexo providing catering provision to the events and hospitality industry.

FC’s Chief Executive Officer Natalie Atkinson said: “I’m delighted to welcome Danny to the team. His energy and experience was just what we were looking for to raise the commercial game of the club to the next level.

“This is a senior role that will help deliver our longer-term objectives and Danny has a wealth of contacts and experience within the football industry and the events and hospitality sector. We are looking forward to him achieving our commercial goals and allowing us to be more competitive on the pitch and achieve sustainable success.”

Simon Preston, Chair of the Club’s Commercial Committee said: "On behalf of the Commercial Committee we would like to welcome Danny to our football club. Danny impressed during his interview where his passion and experience for football and the community shone through. We are confident that he will be able to take the strong commercial foundation that Frances Fielding has built up over the last 10 months and continue in the same fashion. Danny will be able to use the support of the Committee in order to help achieve our shared goals for next year and beyond."

Dave Ashurst, Board Member also added: “I am delighted that we have been able to secure such a strong candidate in Danny. This will enable the club to build on the excellent foundation that Frances has created. I would also like to thank the Commercial Committee for their work in getting this appointment over the line.”

Danny is eager to dive into his new role and meet with the co-owners, he said: “I’m thrilled to be joining FC United and heading up the commercial operations. I’ve always been interested in the club and its unique fan ownership model. I’m looking forward to working with the Board and meeting the co-owners and believe I can help build on the club’s commercial foundations and drive this forward.”
