FC United announces new Vision and structure

We are excited to launch our new five-year Vision and supporting structure to supporters.

Previously presented to club co-owners, the Vision document outlines five key themes that we’ll focus on over the next five years to help the club grow and develop.

The Vision was developed based on co-owner responses to an in-depth survey earlier in 2021 and consultation with other interested parties.

The survey asked co-owners about their hopes and ambitions for the club, to help shape the Vision content. We asked co-owners to name the #1 top priority for the club and the results were as follows:

  • 55% – providing affordable football
  • 15% – avoiding outright commercialism
  • 13% – achieving on pitch success
  • 12% – encouraging young, local participation (playing & supporting)
  • 5% – delivering community projects

The Visions’s five themes cover:

“It’s 3 o’clock on Saturday” – match attendance & experience

“Glory, Glory FC United” – footballing ambitions

“This badge is your badge” – supporter-ownership & volunteering

“Belongs to you and me” – community programme

“We’ll keep the red flag flying high” – long-term sustainability

You can read the detail about each theme, the rationale around why we need the Vision, and our new management structure here.

How will we get it all done?

To ensure the club can achieve its five-year plan and goals, a new management structure is being set up.

This includes a new senior management team with three ‘Heads of’ to support the board:

  • Operations & Finance – Paul Smith
  • Football & Academy Principal – Neil Reynolds
  • Commercial & Marketing – Harriet Russell (new appointment – click here to read more)

In addition, we are forming a new fixed committee structure to further support the board. Committee members will be drawn largely from our co-owners, supplemented where required by others. They will be experts in their field and the committees will cover:

  • Commercial
  • Communications
  • Community
  • Co-ownership
  • Football
  • Strategy & Governance (formerly the Stakeholder Relations Committee )

Our AGM will be held on Sunday December 5th where we’ll be asking co-owners to vote to formally adopt the Vision.

It has never been a more exciting time to be a co-owner of FC. If you haven’t already signed up for this season, you can still do so. The deadline for becoming a co-owner and taking part in the AGM is Sunday, November 7th.

You can join online here. Season tickets and ten match ticket books are also still available to buy.
