CYCM: Stalybridge Celtic

It’s all systems go at Malcolms this Saturday, with another fantastic local band providing the pre-match sounds. We’ve been trying to get The Empty Page in for a while now, so we’re really happy that they’ll be joining us before the game against our old landlords, Stalybridge Celtic. The band have been chomping at the bit to get their second LP out into the world and will be playing tracks from it for us. A dead cert is a blast through their upcoming single ‘Level Sedentary’.

A current mystery is how they are going to replace their long-term drummer, Jim. Drum machine? Acapella? Drag somebody out of the crowd? We’ll see around 2pm on Saturday. (Although we are hoping to have an update on the CYCM Instagram feed: Instagram.com/malcolmses over the next few days).

So, get down early for the band, the usual food – Westwell-sourced tater ash or cheese pies, the Welshest of mushy peas and ??? muffins. (We’ve heard that our muffin expert will be passing through Duffel on her way to Antwerp this week and has been hinting at something related. Possibly marmalade??) And all pulled together by the inestimable Baz and his litany of Tory-baiting quips. What could be better?

The usual drill; come down really early and mistake the soundcheck for the gig, doors at one, Baz at one-thirty, band at two. Flaming torches and pitchforks procession onto the stand at 14.55.
