So here we go again. Back on the CYCM Merrie Go Round and off into the forest of fun. It’s been a long wet Summer and we’re raring to go. For our first game we have one of Manchester’s best-kept secrets, Alphaville Records recording stars, Threads.
So here we go again. Back on the CYCM Merrie Go Round and off into the forest of fun. It’s been a long wet Summer and we’re raring to go. For our first game we have one of Manchester’s best-kept secrets, Alphaville Records recording stars, Threads - https://linktr.ee/Threadsbandmcr. Having previously played with the likes of LoneLady, Imperial Wax and Flipper (presumably the US hardcore band and not the 60s TV dolphin), they’re swapping The White Hotel, Fuel and The Talleyrand for The Caring Stage underneath the SMRE this very Saturday, 12 August, 2023. This is the real Glorious Twelfth, not that bunch of blood-thirsty bastards in Tweed. We’ll have the usual, rambling incoherent (us, not them) interview online in a day or two, where we’ll learn a bit more about them. The spinning wheel of suds this time brings us Salopian Hop Twister, Two Hoots and Holts' IPA, with many more to come across the wide-open vistas of the 23/24 season that lay open in front of us. (And blimey, 23/24, we remember this when it was all 05/06 and Over By Xmas). There will be tater hash pies and cheese pies freshly delivered in the Colwyn Bay Batmobile and served up with perfectly-seasoned mushy peas and optional mint sauce. There will be muffins. And the muffin-maker has been out blackberry picking this week so that sounds promising. Don’t forget there is no coach this season. There Is No Coach This Season. So don’t fall out of the Hare and Hounds at approximately 11.55, 12.55 or 13.55 and expect to be whisked up here. You’ll need to find alternative means; truck, train or tractor will do. Mind that big hill up from the Metrolink, though. Plan ahead. Doors open at one. As does the bar. Baz will present his usual intro to proceedings at two. Earlier if we can work out how to get a quizwork out how to get a quiz to work in this brave (not so) new world. We’re trying, trust us, we have a sackful of prizes in the CYCM cupboard that we’re dying to get out to you all. And it’s not all Fenix Trophy half and half scarfs or North West Counties era match-day badges. Come two fifteen it’s time for Threads who will Rock Out for a full half hour. Or more if you refuse to let them leave the stage. Three O’Clock and it’s full steam ahead for our first opening day home win since well, bloody forever. No punchline.
