CYCM Preview: Whitby Town

After a fallow week (and is it a coincidence that our 100% home record ended on a day when the relentlessly positive influence of the Caring Stage was unavailable?) Course You Can Malcolm returns with the enigma that is DMITRI and (for different reasons) the enigma that is Francis Dinner. A well-established, Manchester-based YouTuber (insert potato joke here), Francis will be presenting fifteen minutes of his digital goings-on under the SMRE for the curious and the mildly-interested at round about 13.45. For a sneak preview of his work jump onto https://www.youtube.com/@francisdinner1013

Our musical headliner is another solo act, last seen by a handful of The Oddies supporting International Teachers of Pop at their Xmas Party at Yes! a couple of Yuletides back. His presser indicates that he is “an ex-nightclub owner and reformed businessman based in South Yorkshire, just off the M1, Britain's premiere highway”. We could stop there, but it continues with news of his impending record release on South Yorkshire’s premiere DIY record label, @doitthissen

As he puts it, “Now, more concerned with deeper questions than 'who sold my nightclub?', DIMITRI Himself is returning with the humanly sincere and phantasmically mechanical record, Probably a Metaphor. Featuring inquiries into the connections between the mind and the body, philosophy and computers, and love and mythology”.

DIMITRI will be plugging in his mic round about 14.15. You won’t want to miss him. https://www.instagram.com/dimitri_why_dont/

In other news, all the good things will be back in place. Tater Hash pies, cheese pies and (for the second time this season), Prestwich mushy peas, courtesy of Mark Pea Smith. (Don’t worry, I hate myself for that more than anybody else does). There will also be muffins made from ‘apples shaken off a tree in a secret orchard in Arnside’*, so don’t forget your pound coin.

So, 13.30, the doors are swung open wide. (The bar actually opens at 13.00, but you might be press-ganged into helping hang flags if you drift too far down our end before 13.30). 13.45, going on 14.00, Baz will sail close to the wind while introducing Francis Dinner. 14.15, DIMITRI will bring an air of mystery and imagination to the Caring Stage. He may be holding some playing cards. He may not. 15.00, the big reset. More Yorkshire, as we take on Whitby Town in an attempt to hold onto our 100% home league record. Free entry for Goths at CYCM today. Bring a fiend.
