CYCM Preview: Guiseley

Coming up this Saturday at Malcolmses, we have a terrific double bill of Rick White and the return of our good friends the band Dirty Laces, along with a chance to win a free pie, peas and pint combo merely by getting there early enough (doors at 1pm) to get one of twenty free (20, not 23) raffle tickets available to the first twenty individual customers (buying one pint then getting a mate to buy another just to get another ticket will be frowned upon).  The beer will be one of the cask ales (choose from Marble Bitter, Chorlton Pale and Fools Gold) and has been donated by the SMRE cask volunteers. The pies and peas will be Westwell’s and Mark Pea Smith’s, available from the pie-stand facing the stage.

Rick White, who recently took part in the Verbose MCR open mic at the King's Arms in Salford, will be kicking off the entertainment by reading us a couple of stories. When quizzed by our resident interviewer/reserve pea-maker Rick said, 'I’ll be kicking it old skool by reading directly from a paperback copy of my book 'Talking to Ghosts at Parties', then going super modern by reading another story from my mobile telephone as it has yet to appear in print'.

Dirty Laces first played at CYCM in February 2019, and if you want a reminder of their sound you can hear them at https://open.spotify.com/artist/2p7JPLCajRCHRoYgD7gvxy. They've got a gig coming up at Canvas in town on 2 December, which is in that ridiculously named Circle Square, so come and watch them in advance of that on the beautifully named Caring Stage under the SMRE.

Even if you don't win the early doors raffle there'll still be tater ash and cheese pies and peas at a bargain rate. And the muffins will involve some very tasty Argentinian raisins.

There will also be another raffle with exciting prizes to be won. Anybody who has been privy to previous Malcolmses raffles (or auctions for that matter) will know that the prizes are unusual... but worth the pound for the ticket. All the proceeds from this one will go to Fund the Foundations.

Get down early, for the chance to win your dinner plus a pint and also to support our turns, who as usual are generously giving their time for nowt.  More specific timings may follow - or may not. Just get yourselves to that football ground, it'll be grand.
