Course You Can Malcolm: Saturday 8th October

After music and drama on the terraces on Tuesday CYCM are excited to offer music and drama under the SMRE prior to the Liversedge game on Saturday.  Going way back to Gigg Lane days we’ve had a great relationship with MaD Theatre Company, and we’re thrilled to welcome them back to offer us a sneak preview of their new play Our Kelly’s Hen Do.

The play is on at Bury Met on Wednesday 12 October (https://themet.org.uk/event/our-kellys-hen-do/), and  Bury Met Web site gives us the following very MaD taster of what to expect: ‘Kelly from the Y Front and Knickers stall is getting married so a bunch of women from Bury Market are going to Blackpool for her Hen Do. On the trip they discover that Doris, who writes to prisoners finds out that her daughter’s violent ex is getting released soon and is going to kill her. Doris has been selling saucy pictures of herself on her “Only Fans” page but still doesn’t have enough money so the girls hatch a plan to get the rest’.

Our musical turn also has links with MaD Theatre, indeed he appeared as an actor with them here at the opening of the refurbished SMRE alongside Martin Buchan and Scuttlers. We’re very pleased to welcome back Jake Hardman, who has such a lovely quote about his music on his Web site that he probably set the site up specially to show it off: "...This is intelligent pop music with a dramatic flourish that doesn't seem to give a damn about coolness, instead concentrating on the lost art of writing relatable lyrics, a bloody good melody and, of course, remembering to include plenty of catchy choruses."  You can find out more at https://www.jakehardman.com/about.

So the kind of plan, inasmuch as Malcolmses ever has a plan, is:

1pm Stu arrives via a clear motorway (we can but dream) with tater ash and cheese pies from Openshaw, and Colwyn Bay mushy peas to go in the pea urn. And his new apron.

(Apologies but our muffin-maker is indisposed).

1.30 Baz kicks things off, after yet another week when the actual news is more surreal than anything he can come up with

1.45 MaD Theatre Company

2.15 Jake Hardman

3pm Our red-shirted heroes roar into action with the scent of FA Trophy victory in their flaring nostrils. Hopefully.
