On Sunday 10th September kick-off 3pm we will be hosting a charity game here at Broadhurst Park to raise money for the partner of former player Dave Brown. The match will be between an FC United 2005/06 Team vrs The Jet2 Holidays AllStars Team – Admission is £10 per adult (Juniors Under 18 = free).

Six years ago, Dave’s partner, Natalie, was diagnosed with a brain tumour when she was 37 weeks pregnant with her second child Bridget.

She was told at the time even with surgery there is no cure for her tumour but bravely took the decision to fight this terrible disease with alternative treatment. Dave explains "We had some bad news recently were the tumour has grown again, not giving much room for it to grow anymore and last year we struggled financially and consequently couldn’t afford to keep up her treatment."

To help raise much needed funds, Dave has opened up his little black book of FC contacts and got together the lads who won the league in our very first season. Already confirmed are Dave Chadwick, Josh Howard, Steve Spencer, Rob Nugent, Phil Melville, Steve Torpey, Phil Power, Joz Mitten, Simon Carden, Will Ahern, Kev Elvin, Rory Patterson, Gareth Ormes, Leon Mike, Adie Orr, Chris Simms, Billy Mcartney and, of course, Dave Brown himself!

Dave said "It’s a great opportunity to give thanks for what they did that year - along with our great supporters - to get he club where it is now... this is a great chance for the fans to go through there songbook again and it would be fantastic for young and old to have a great day out."

The opposition on the day will be the Jet2 TV Allstars; a celebrity team including actors for Coronation Street and Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Waterloo Road. Jet 2 will also be raffling off flights on the day for tickets to a European destination of your choice.

There will be plenty more happening on the day, including Tom Greaves and his Fisical Sports team doing penalty shoot outs.

We’ll leave the final word to Dave though.

"We are hoping to raise as much money as I can as alternative treatment is not cheap.
We are asking for our fantastic supporters to come out and cheer and donate to a cause close to my heart for my Natalie."
