Celebrating Our Volunteers on International Volunteer Day

On International Volunteer Day, we celebrate the heart and soul of FC United - our volunteers. They’re the driving force behind everything we do, and without them, the club simply wouldn’t exist.

On International Volunteer Day, we celebrate the heart and soul of FC United - our volunteers. They’re the driving force behind everything we do, and without them, the club simply wouldn’t exist.

From turnstile operators to kitmen, board and committee members to stewards, our volunteers step up every week to support our small but mighty staff team, keeping the club running smoothly and embodying the true spirit of community.

Last Saturday, during the match against Mickleover, we had the pleasure of hosting representatives from Pitching In, the Northern Premier League’s sponsor, alongside our new local MP, Graham Stringer. Both came to witness the remarkable efforts of our volunteers and learn more about FC United’s impact. Graham saw firsthand the vital roles played by our reception team, the real ale bar crew pulling pints, and those running events like “Course You Can Malcolm” and the Pound For The Ground draw.

He also experienced the generosity of our fans during the Big Coat Day collection, a testament to the values that underpin everything we do at FC United. It’s this combination of selfless volunteering and community support that sets us apart as a club.

As long-serving volunteer John Gallimore so perfectly put it; “It couldn’t operate without volunteers, just couldn’t happen.”

To all our incredible volunteers: thank you. You are the backbone of FC United, helping us achieve so much both on and off the pitch. We couldn’t do it without you. For our co-owners who might be inspired to get involved, we have a variety of volunteering roles available across matchdays and throughout the week. Together, we can continue to build something truly special.
