CD Cuenca-Mestallistes 1925 v FC United of Manchester match arrangements

Tuesday 21st March kick-off 20:20 CET

The match

FC United will travel to the Spanish city of Valencia to play our final group game of this year’s Fenix Trophy against CD Cuenca-Mestallistes 1925 on Tuesday 21st March. Kick off will be 20:20 CET which is the local time in Spain (kick off is 19:20 for those of you watching the live YouTube stream in the UK which is available by clicking HERE ).

With three wins already in Group A, FC United are the first team to qualify for the semi-finals but will be looking to finish with a win.

Venue

The match will be played at the Campo de Futbol Serrans, Instalaciones Municipales Serranos, Turia River, Section VI in Valencia. Details can be found here: https://www.fdmvalencia.es/es/instalaciones/campo-de-futbol-serranos/

The ground is situated right on the edge of Valencia’s old town with a multitude of bars and restaurants within a few minutes’ walk. The Torres de Serranos, one of Valencia’s main tourist attractions, is located close to the ground. You can found out more about the Torres de Serranos here: https://www.visitvalencia.com/en/what-to-do-valencia/valencian-culture/monuments-in-valencia/serranos-towers

The ground & facilities

With CD Cuenca-Mestallistes 1925's home ground not big enough to host the expected number of travellers from the UK the game has been moved. This stadium has a capacity of 500 which is expected to be sufficient for the numbers attending but in the unlikely event that we reach capacity there will be no further admission. The stadium is located in an old dry river bed and we have been assured that if capacity inside the ground is reached there would be room for a couple of hundred more to view from the two public bridges overlooking the ground at either end which offer a great view of the pitch. You can check out the view from one of those bridges by clicking here

There will be limited unreserved seating available and fans will be able to stand along the sides of the pitch and behind one of the goals. All areas are uncovered so please dress accordingly for the weather conditions on the night.

Please note that there will be no advanced ticket sales and entry will be first come first served on the night.

Admission

Admission will be 6 Euros with 1 Euro of that being donated to charity. Admission is strictly cash only with no facility to take card payments. The ground will open at 19.50 CET which is 30 minutes before kick-off.

Food and drink

There is a bar in the ground which will serve alcoholic and soft drinks and there will be a food outlet as well. These will be cash only with no facility to take card payments

Merchandise

CD Cuenca-Mestallistes 1925 will have t-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs and scarves on sale in the ground and are hoping to have a match programme. All sales will be cash only with no facility to take card payments

Pyro

We have received the following advice from the club regarding pyro:

“The use of fireworks within the stadium is totally prohibited. In Spain there is still some shame over the death of a child on a football field due to a flare. Outside the stadium, including on the bridges overlooking the stadium, it is the responsibility of each person. During the Fallas festival (which ends two days before our visit) it is tolerated in public spaces but on Tuesday the 21st, in principle, it is not allowed”.

Travel to the match

You can fly to Valencia from the UK with Ryanair but it is not a daily service. There are numerous daily flights from many UK airports including Manchester and Liverpool to Alicante which is under 2 hours from Valencia and there is a speedy train service between Madrid and Valencia.

We are looking to provide places on the team coach on Wednesday 22nd March from Valencia to Alicante airport in time to catch the 19:15 CET Easyjet flight back to Manchester. The cost would be around £10. Please email adrian.seddon@fc-utd.uk as soon as possible if this is something you would like to book so that we can assess the viability in the next couple of days.
