The new football season is fast approaching and the FC United players are gearing themselves up for another rollercoaster season. After narrowly missing out on the play-offs last year the squad are keen to go one better this year and are going for that top spot.
Pre-season is in full swing and after trips to Sweden and South Korea over the summer the players are looking forward to some slightly more local pre-season friendlies in the coming days. This weekend sees a visit to Hyde United, where supporters will be able to reminisce about previous visits to Ewan Fields. FC United have been successful on this ground in the past, with a 4-1 win against Glossop and a 5-1 win against Abbey Hey way back in 2006/07.
This game is followed by trips to Maine Road and Trafford on the following two Tuesday nights. Sandwiched in between on the Saturday is a seaside trip to Colwyn Bay.
The club have a number of new signings and triallists, plus a few youth team graduates hoping to impress the boss - so get yourself to that football ground to check out likes of ex-Ashton striker Ben Deegan, pacy forward Abdi Ibrahim, ex-youth team goal machine Jamie Mack and terrace regular Nick Swirad and see if you can spot the next Kyle Wilson or Jerome Wright.
And remember, all the pre-season friendlies are guaranteed to be a game of two halves - FC United receiving one half of the profits and the host club keeping the other.
