Appeal for witnesses after FC United goalkeeper Dave Carnell attacked in street

FC United is appealing for witnesses after the club’s goalkeeper Dave Carnell was attacked after he made his way home from the club’s annual awards night held at Broadhurst Park in Moston on Saturday evening.

Dave recalls being dropped off by a taxi near his home in Chadderton and was found by a passer-by on Selkirk Avenue in Chadderton shortly after midnight having suffered a violent attack of which he can’t recall any detail. Dave was taken to hospital for treatment and was discharged early on Sunday morning and is now recovering at home.

We would appeal for any witnesses who may have seen anything on Selkirk Avenue between 11pm and midnight to call Greater Manchester Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
