An open letter from Men's Team Manager Neil Reynolds looking ahead to the 2023/24 season.
To the owners,
To start, I want to thank you once again for all your fantastic support this season at FC United.
This year we have seen over 36,000 supporters enter our red turnstiles, each and every one of them contributing to our electric atmosphere at Broadhurst Park. All of you bring a noise to home games that myself and the players thrive off, when BP is rocking there is no comparable ground in non-league.
Since the opening match, we’ve had some memorable days on the pitch, who remembers the Tuesday re-arranged under the lights fixture against South Shields – what a finish and what an atmosphere! The festive highlight with a bumper 2144 crowd packing into Broadhurst Park on Boxing Day to see the Reds take apart our Tameside visitors Ashton United. And finally, our penultimate home game of the season showed us the potential of this young team as we put 5 past play-off finalists Bamber Bridge.
What an incredible year the Women’s Team have had; bouncing back from relegation to promotion at the first attempt, as league champions – with the Argyle Sports Plate Final still to play. This shows the true team spirit of FC United!
Recruitment has started for the new season, myself and the team are focussed on our plan, we know the type of player we want and will be adding to the squad. We have the exciting prospect of heading out to Milan for the Fenix Trophy Finals; another chapter in the history of FC United is about to be written. With a testing pre-season schedule already in place – to be announced in the coming weeks - we’re aiming to build on the strong end to 2022/23 and enjoy watching this group of young players develop and grow into the FC United way of entertaining football.
The cost-of-living crisis has impacted our Club and we cannot thank you enough for your unwavering support to the team and Club, we will continue to work hard off the field delivering the vision for the Club. I’m working closely with the CEO to ensure that we are aligned and that we keep our mission on track.
We know the season ticket and ten match ticket book prices have increased but we are still very much an affordable football club offering one of the best match day experiences in football! With Course You Can Malcolm providing weekly bands, guest ales and new food offerings our objective is to provide the best day out for you, your friends and family.
I know there are always more opportunities for improvement, and we want you to be a part of making every matchday experience great both at Broadhurst Park and away from home. If you have feedback or ideas to share, please email us at: office@fc-utd.uk
As I am sure you all know, we will continue to do all we can to fill Broadhurst Park, and we want to put a team on the pitch whose mission for every match is to play winning, attractive, exciting football. My goal remains to be successful and bring smiles to people’s faces.
We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you next season to support our promotion goal. WE ARE FC UNITED.
