FC United of Manchester, supported with funding from MCR Active, is proud to announce the introduction of a new community football programme for children with additional needs: Youth United All-Stars.
Discussions with parents, carers, schools, and community organisations consistently highlight struggles faced by children with additional needs who want to play football. These include the fact they feel misunderstood in traditional football environments, the need for support which is not always available, less opportunity to participate in matches, anxiety or low confidence in competitive mediums, and the need for a more flexible approach to engagement.
Across the next 12 months, FC United will aim to directly tackle each of these problems. We want to increase access to football, improve confidence and wellbeing, reduce social isolation, create a supportive and inclusive football environment, develop positive relationships between families and local sports providers, and establish a sustainable disability football offer within the community.
Experienced and qualified coaches will deliver football sessions at Broadhurst Park, creating a focus on inclusion, engagement, and enjoyment.
