Everyone at FC United was saddened to hear of the recent passing away of long-term dedicated supporter – Trevor Fox, known to his friends as Honest Trev.

Trevor’s funeral takes place at 1pm this Monday 24th June at Peel Green Cemetery in Eccles and will be followed by his wake at The Bird in Hand pub. Everyone who knew Trev is very welcome to attend.

Organiser of the Eccles Branch and teller of tall stories, Trev was a familiar face to many at FC United as he attended most matches.

One of Trev’s friends, Chris Meadows said: “Trev proudly described himself as FC United’s most famous fan, which was testament to his ability to chat to – some would say at! – just about anyone.”

Trev’s 'Bedlam Bus' found fame of its own too! The popular minibus has transported the Eccles Branch and friends to countless away games over the years. Chris added: “Trev was always keen to keep the price as affordable as possible for everyone and it was often fully booked.”

Trev’s ‘Working class rebels’ flag has been a common sight at matches for many years too. The flag features the face of a coal miner in front of a pit.

Colourful stories
Trev lived a colourful life and enjoyed regaling people with even more colourful stories. He apparently once slept inside a dead sheep to keep warm when lost on the moors, scouted Jordan Buckley from Irlam, and said he regularly called manager Neil Reynolds to give pointers on tactics.

Trev also claimed to have created one of FC’s most famous chants back in 2005 — ‘I don’t care about Rio, he don’t care about me, all I care about, is watching FC.’

According to friends, Trev also boasted that an anti-Glazer masterpiece he’d penned had become an unlikely hit in Poland where it reached the top of the charts!

His friend Martin Green said he felt instantly welcomed to FC United when he first met Trev. He said: “He pulled up in his bus, which looked like something out of the Wacky Races, and told me I should get onboard. Nothing but fun times followed.

“Trevor was a true gentleman, he made a fuss of my children, and without doubt he hosted the most dysfunctional branch meetings in FC history. I’ll never forget FC’s ultimate Rolling Stone.”
