New deals for Ruben Grewal and Matty Grivosti, an update on the Broadhurst Park pitch, preparations for the new season and everything you need to know ahead of Saturday's opening pre-season fixture against Bradford City.
With pre-season now underway, we wanted to bring supporters up to date with news and preparations ahead of Saturday’s opening fixture against Bradford City.
We’re delighted to announce that Ruben Grewal and Matty Grivosti have signed new one-year deals and will remain at Broadhurst Park for the 2026/27 season.
Ruben joined the squad late last summer but quickly made his mark, making 37 appearances and scoring memorable goals against Darlington in the FA Trophy and away at Hednesford Town. His performances earned him consecutive Player of the Month awards in November and December.
Matty enters his third season with the club, having made 80 appearances over the last two campaigns. He was ever-present last season, making 47 appearances and scoring nine goals – including a superb hat-trick against Rushall Olympic in October.
Welcome back, Ruben and Matty!
Following the conclusion of Phase 1 of the Drainage Renovation Project earlier this month, the Broadhurst Park pitch has been basking in the Manchester sunshine over the last couple of weeks and is looking lusher and greener by the day. As is normal with projects like this, supporters will notice areas where the drains have been installed whilst everything beds in.
The groundstaff remain hard at work over this week, and throughout the remainder of pre-season, to continue delivering a pitch that we can all be proud of.
We’d also like to thank everyone involved in delivering the first phase of the project - from the contractors and groundstaff to the volunteers and supporters whose backing through the Pitch In campaign helped make it possible.

Our pre-season programme gets underway this Saturday with the visit of League One side Bradford City (Saturday 4 July), before we welcome newly promoted League Two side Rochdale (Tuesday 14 July) and Salford City, under new manager Peter Cklamovski (Saturday 18 July), to Broadhurst Park.
Away from home, we'll travel to Cheadle Town (Tuesday 7 July), Runcorn Linnets (Saturday 11 July), Trafford (Monday 20 July), Southport (Friday 24 July) and Macclesfield (Saturday 1 August), giving Mark Beesley and his staff a varied programme of fixtures as preparations continue for the new season.
The squad returned for pre-season training last Tuesday (23 June) and were put through their paces under the watchful eye of Mark Beesley and his staff. Preparations continue this week as we build towards Saturday’s opening friendly against Bradford City.
As always, pre-season is about building fitness, assessing the squad and giving opportunities to players across the group. That means supporters are likely to see different line-ups across the programme, with some players sitting out one fixture before featuring in another. Trialists are also expected to feature during pre-season as the management team continues its preparations for the new campaign.

We’re delighted to welcome Bradford City back to Broadhurst Park for a second time. Last summer’s friendly saw The Bantams claim a 1-0 win in front of more than 1,600 supporters on what was a superb afternoon in the sunshine.
With a dry day forecast and temperatures expected to reach the low 20s, we look forward to welcoming everyone back to Broadhurst Park – and to another excellent travelling support from Bradford.
For this fixture, just the Main Stand and the SMRE will be open.
We’ll have a range of new food options on offer from the kiosks this season, including gourmet burgers and hot dogs, chicken tenders and pizza twists, alongside favourites like pies and chips. For Saturday’s game, we’re also hoping to have a pizza van in the far corner of the ground.
Both bars will be open before kick-off. The Main Stand Bar will call last orders at 4.15pm due to a pre-booked function, with post-match refreshments available in the SMRE Bar.
Advance tickets are available via Fanbase: Fanbase | Select Tickets or you can pay on the gate on Saturday. Adults: £15, Concessions: £10.50, 18-21: £5, U18: £3, U5: Free
After two months away, it’ll be great to be back at Broadhurst Park. Whether you're joining us for the first time this summer or returning for another season, we look forward to seeing you on Saturday.
Thank you, as always, for your fantastic support. We can’t wait to see familiar faces back at Broadhurst Park as preparations continue for another exciting season.
