SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC 2 FC UNITED of MANCHESTER 3
FC United of Manchester eventually came out on top in their first ever trip to The Flamingo Land Stadium with this 3-2 away friendly match win against fellow fan-owned team Scarborough Athletic on Saturday afternoon.
The Evo-Stik Premier League hosts had started brightly and opened the scoring on just 10 minutes when JAMES WALSHAW comfortably headed home a lofted Leon Scott cross from the left.
The visitors then rallied and deservedly drew level on 40 minutes when KURT WILLOUGHBY netted the equaliser, heading home, from close range, Sam Baird’s nod back..
A goal apiece at half-time, the home side began the second half as they had the first, and regained the lead on 51 minutes when WAYNE BROOKSBY collected a long through ball from his own ’keeper before unleashing a sweetly struck shot across Lloyd Allinson and into the net.
Two minutes later, it was 2-2 when HARRY WINTER took full advantage of an audacious flick-on by Jamal Crawford before lifting an unstoppable effort past home ’keeper Tommy Taylor.
And on 56 minutes, KURT WILLOUGHBY grabbed what proved to be the winner when he took advantage of a weak header by a Scarborough defender before rounding the ’keeper and firing the ball home into the unguarded net.
