FC United’s academy team maintained their 100% record in the ECFA North West Men’s Category 2B league with this comfortable 8-0 away victory against Nelson & Colne College (Burnley FC) Men’s 1sts on the Hyndburn Leisure Centre 3G on Monday afternoon.
STEVE WHETHAM opened the scoring for the young Reds on 9 minutes with a close range header from a Jude Gilbert corner before JACK WARD added the second a minute later, this time from a Harry Fairhurst cross.
On 19 minutes, DARIUS PALMA latched onto a Nathan Chorlton long ball to put the visitors 3-0 up, and PALMA added a second goal on the stroke of half-time, this time from a Jude Gilbert pass, to make it 4-0 at the interval.
On 61 minutes, DARIUS PALMA completed his hat-trick from close range, courtesy of a Sam Baird assist, which made the score 5-0, before ROBSON BUCKLEY rounded the keeper on 64 minutes, to score goal number six.
On 78 minutes, ROBSON BROWN took advantage of a pinpoint Nathan Chorlton cross-field pass to make it 7-0 and on 89 minutes Jude Gilbert set up NATHAN CHORLTON who completed the scoring with a low shot into the corner of the net for goal number eight.
