Holders FC United’s academy team are through to the finals of the Greater Manchester Schools FA Under 18’s County Cup competition with this 6-1 away win against Loreto College 1sts in Hulme on Tuesday afternoon.

The young Reds opened the scoring after just 4 minutes; SAM BAIRD heading home from a Jack Ward corner.

On 14 minutes, the home side equalised when Charles Akande scored from close range.

On 24 minutes, JACK WARD made it 2-1 when he took full advantage of a poor goal kick.

And on 27 minutes, CHARLIE SYKES headed under the ’keeper to make the interval score 3-1.

3 minutes into the second half and WILL SHAWCROSS worked a goalbound effort in from the edge of the area to put the visitors 4-1 ahead.

17 minutes into the second half and JACK PRESTON made it 5-1 with a shot from a narrow angle after latching onto a Michael Jones cross-field pass.

Three minutes before full-time, Loreto College were reduced to ten men when Tyler Watson was sent off for a second bookable offence, but the damage had been done by then.

And there was still time for FRANCESCO FRANGILLO to add a sixth for FC United’s academy team in the final minute from the penalty spot after Jack Preston had been tripped inside the box to make the final score 6-1.
