LANCASTER & MORECAMBE COLLEGE DEV MENS 2nd 0 HOPWOOD HALL COLLEGE (FC UNITED) 18
FC United’s college team recorded a spectacular 18-0 away win against a spirited but inexperienced Lancaster & Morecambe College development side at Lancaster on Wednesday afternoon in their opening ECFA North West Mens Category 3D league fixture.
Scoring the opening goal inside just two minutes, it was largely one-way traffic after that, with Jack Ward, who had scored against Altrincham in the FA Youth Cup game on Monday night, netting no less than eight times, five in the first half.
Cameron Thorpe and Charlie Sykes also scored hat-tricks for the FC United college team who were 8-0 up at half-time.
Credit, however, must be given to the Lancaster & Morecambe team who never gave up, in particular, their second-half goalkeeper who made a string of spectacular saves to keep the score down.
18-0 is understood to be a record score for a Men’s team representing F.C. United of Manchester.
