FC United’s academy team recorded a narrow 3-2 away victory against Hopwood Hall College (Rochdale AFC) Men’s 1sts on the Hopwood Hall College Middleton Campus 3G on Thursday morning in their latest game in the ECFA North West Men’s Category 2B league.
Darius Palma opened the scoring for the young Reds on 11 minutes from close range, this after Jude Gilbert’s shot had been half saved by Tom Cooksey in the home goal before Robson Brown netted on 20 minutes to make the half-time score 2-0.
When Jack Ward came out of goal to add another just after the half-time interval to put the visitors 3-0 up it seemed that it might be a matter of how many.
However, Darius Palma then had a penalty well saved on the hour mark, and the home side countered with two well-taken late goals from Ben Parker on 84 minutes and 90 minutes to make the final score a narrow 3-2 win in favour of FC United’s academy team.
