FC United were beaten 4-1 by FC Winterthur at the Stadion Schützenwiese on Saturday afternoon but the result didn’t spoil a great occasion, which was billed as ’The True Spirit of Football’ by our Swiss hosts and enjoyed by 2,700 supporters.
Players’ player of the season, Liam Brownhill, who has recently signed a one year contract with the Reds, scored a 30 yard free-kick to break the deadlock. However, the second tier Swiss team fought back to go 3-1 ahead by half-time and added a fourth in the second half.
Around 300 FC United supporters made the trip to Switzerland to enjoy the traditional end of season Euro away, which has previously seen us travel to Germany, Sweden, Northern Ireland and Wales.
