FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH 1 TRANMERE ROVERS YOUTH 0
An 83rd minute goal by team captain Kane Stockley was the difference between the two sides as FC United of Manchester Youth registered a narrow 1-0 home victory over Tranmere Rovers Youth on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Tuesday afternoon in their last-but-one National League u19 Alliance Division ’J’ league fixture of the 2018-2019 season.
Max Lewens had gone close to opening the scoring for the Young Reds in first half time added on with a looping shot that Tranmere ’ keeper Joe Waugh saved fairly comfortably.
At the other end, the visitors competed well but didn’t really test Tom Bamber in the home goal.
With just seven minutes remaining, FC United snatched the only goal of the game. Max Lewens saw a low effort blocked and the loose ball fell nicely for KANE STOCKLEY to steer home what proved to be the winner from the edge of the six yard box.
Substitute Dillon Kirkman had the ball in the net for the second time just moments later but his rasping effort was chalked off for an infringement during the build up.
FC United of Manchester Youth conclude their league programme on Thursday (11th April 2019), when they host Crewe Alexandra Youth on the Broadhurst Park 3G (KO 1.00 pm).
