FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH 2 MARINE AFC YOUTH 0
FC United of Manchester Youth team recorded a second consecutive win in the National League u19 Alliance Division ’J’ league with this 2-0 home win against Marine AFC Youth on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Wednesday afternoon.

Chances were few and far between in the first half.

FC United ’keeper Tom Bamber did well to stop Marine forward Rustam Stepan from opening the scoring on 17 minutes and, at the other end, visitors ’keeper Ben Clarke prevented Kane Stockley from scoring at the other end just five minutes later.

The crucial first goal came on 58 minutes. A goalbound Jacobe Anderson effort was charged down by a Marine defender’s hand inside the penalty area and KANE STOCKLEY made no mistake with the resulting spot kick.

And it was substitute XAVIER IWEGBU who made sure of the destination of the three points on offer on 89 minutes when he was first to react, this after Sam Iwegbu’s low shot had come back off the foot of the post, Xavier Iwegbu steering the loose ball home from four yards out.

Marine AFC Youth played well, but couldn’t find a way past a well-marshalled FC United defence.
