Match Report
FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH 0 CARLISLE UNITED YOUTH 2

FC United of Manchester Youth exited the FA Youth Cup at the First Round Proper stage following a somewhat disappointing 0-2 home defeat against Carlisle United Youth at Broadhurst Park on Tuesday evening.

The Young Reds took the initial play to their Cumbrian opponents but were unable to make any of their early chances count and it was Carlisle United Youth who had the best first half opportunity on 35 minutes when Jordan Holt powered a 12 yard header at home ’keeper Adib Badri who did exceptionally well to keep the effort out.

After a goal-less first half, the visitors from Brunton Park then opened the scoring on 55 minutes after Jack Ward had unnecessarily conceded a free-kick just outside his own penalty area.

MAX COWBURN’s flighted 28-yard set piece beat both the defending wall and the home goalkeeper to put the visitors one goal up.

Carlisle’s cause wasn’t helped when defender Aidan Hutchison saw red for a second cautionable offence on 75 minutes, but just when it seemed that they might falter, the visitors made sure of the result on 80 minutes when substitute LUKE LLOYD got on to the end of a teasing Jack Egan cross from the right to head past Badri.
