FC United of Manchester Youth progressed through to the next round of the Football Conference Youth Alliance League Cup with this 4-0 home win against Nottinghamshire-based Basford United Youth on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Wednesday afternoon.
FC United opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a close range shot from full-back Jacob Holt after clever build-up play on the left from Cameron Horner.
On 40 minutes, Jack Tinning made it 2-0 with a dipping shot that gave the visiting ’keeper no chance.
On 57 minutes, Cameron Horner was the recipient of great approach work by Sam Hadfield-Summerbee on the right to poke the ball into the net from inside the goal area.
And on 84 minutes, Sam Hadfield-Summerbee latched onto a long clearance to round the ’keeper and slot the ball home to make the final score 4-0.
The match was marred by a serious-looking lower leg injury to one of the Basford United substitutes in the closing seconds of the game (subsequently confirmed NOT to have been a broken leg).
