FC grab two late goals to ensure no heartbreak ridge

The curtain was drawn on FC United of Manchester's home pre-season campaign with a final game at Broadhurst before the pitch underwent a two-week treatment ahead of the upcoming 21 Northern Premier League games. FC United, donning their white away kit, faced Longridge Town, who sported their all-red attire.

However, FC United's pressure eventually paid off in the 38th minute when #7 Jay Fitzmartin found the back of the net with a clever finish at the near post. Despite their dominance, Longridge's defense held firm, making it difficult for FC United to break through.

In the 50th minute, new recruit #9 Nic Bollado chipped the ball over the goalkeeper's head to double FC United's lead with a classy finish. Longridge, however, pulled one back in the 65th minute through #11 Turner, who rounded the goalkeeper after breaking the backline after a soft backpass. The match remained competitive as both teams made multiple substitutions to freshen up their squads.

In the 83rd minute, Longridge capitalized on a 50/50 challenge, and #12 Lucas fired the ball into the empty net, reducing the deficit to 2-1.
