FC UNITED of MANCHESTER YOUTH TEAM 2 FC HALIFAX TOWN YOUTH 4
The FC United of Manchester Youth team's latest pre-season match saw the Young Reds host an FC Halifax Town Youth/Academy XI on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Wednesday afternoon, the West Yorkshire team returning home with a 4-2 win.
The visitors opened the scoring on just 7 minutes when BEN DARBY beat the offside trap before placing the ball past home goalkeeper Macca Bennett and the away team might have doubled their lead on 22 minutes when a shot hit the crossbar.
SANDRO DA COSTA took full advantage of a mix up in the FC Halifax Town defence to snatch what proved to be a somewhat short-lived equaliser on 23 minutes, before the Young Shaymen regained the lead less than a minute later when LUCAS SCHOFIELD converted a cross from the left.
In a ding-dong first half, FC United of Manchester then drew level for a second time on 29 minutes when Sandro Da Costa set up TOBY HUMPHRIES with a pinpoint pass.
But a third goal for the FC Halifax Town XI within 60 seconds of the second half restart, TRAVIS ATHERTON collecting a lofted pass before placing the ball beyond Macca Bennett, gave the home side something of a mountain to climb.
After another effort from the away team had shaved the post on 55 minutes, FRANKIE SINFIELD made sure of the result with a fourth goal for the visitors on 81 minutes.
In the dying minutes, an Arlo Buller Frew shot was tipped on to the post by the Halifax 'keeper, but that was about as near as FC United got in the second half.
