FC United of Manchester Academy ’A’ team’s opening pre-season fixture saw the Young Reds go down by three goals to nil to a somewhat superior Carlisle United u17s on the Broadhurst Park 3G on Friday afternoon.

A snapshot from the edge of the area on 7 minutes from MICHAEL SPELLMAN put the visitors one goal up before LIAM PAUL extended Carlisle United’s lead early into the second half when he got on to the end of a right wing cross on 53 minutes.

JAY BELL made sure of the result with a third, this time from a low cross from the left, on 86 minutes.
