FC UNITED of MANCHESTER ACADEMY 'B' TEAM 1 ASHTON on MERSEY SCHOOL MEN's 1sts 2
FC United of Manchester’s Academy ’B’ team went down to a narrow 1-2 home defeat against Ashton on Mersey School Men’s 1sts on a windswept Broadhurst Park 3G on Friday afternoon in their latest AoC Sport North West League Invitation (East) fixture.
In difficult blustery conditions, the visitors opened the scoring on 8 minutes from the penalty spot when OSCAR CAMPBELL sent Matthew Crosby the wrong way from the twelve yard mark, the award having been given for a shirt pull.
The Young Reds drew level just five minutes later when KHADIM THIAM netted from close range.
However, the visitors weren’t fazed and TOM CARR grabbed what proved to be the winner on the stroke of half-time, bundling the ball home from two yards out.
Goalkeeper Matthew Crosby made a couple of smart saves for FC United in the second half, before having to go off (Mason Beard taking over in goal) but there was to be no further scoring as Ashton-on-Mersey School Men’s 1sts held on for a deserved win .
