FC United lost 3-1 to Conference side Exeter City at St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon but, regardless of the result, it was a victory for everyone involved as two pioneering supporter-owned clubs met for the first time.
With the players enjoying their third run-out of the pre-season, the Reds were outclassed on the pitch but, perhaps more importantly, United continue to be in a class of their own on the terraces with around 400 noisy supporters proving there definitely isn’t a seven year itch.
