Match Report
In a sunny corner of East Manchester the Development Squad took on an Avro XI and came away with a 2-2 draw. Goals from Lee Ellis in the first half and Jay Walcott in the second were the reply to two goals in as many minutes from Avro just after half an hour.

FC United started brightly, Mike Taylor, Matty Boland and Jon Poizer having good efforts in the first five minutes. The reds took the lead on fifteen minutes whena pass from Jay Walcott allowed Liam Ellisto run clear of the defence and shoot in at the near post. The game then settled down and there were no real chances until the first of the double strike that gave Avro a half time lead; Boland was unlucky not to restore FC’s lead before their second goal.

Early in the second half FC were denied twice from a free kick Taylors shot was turned wide by the keeper and as Frank van Gils returned the ball in to the box his point blank block denied Richard Smith. It was 2-2 around ten minutes into the second half when Frank van Gils crossed for Jay to head home. The rest of the game saw a lot of endeavour and a few half chances but neither keeper was truly tested.
