What's the ground like?

Buxton is the home of bottled Peak District water and Silverlands - the highest football ground above sea level in England at 1,000 feet, and one of the oldest. The ground is one of the best in the league, holding up to 5,200 spectators with an impressive 500 seater main stand on the half way line with some standing either side. Opposite is the Scratching Shed or 'Shed' as it is known with covered terraced standing. Behind the goals, there is uncovered standing at one end and the Railway End Terrace at the other. On trips to Buxton, away fans are often in the Shed and the open end behind the goal. Facilities include a bar, small club shop, and a food hut which sells the usual burgers, hot dogs, chips, teas and coffees all at reasonable prices. Buxton railway station is also nearby, but it is a short steep walk uphill from there to the ground. The surrounding area of the stadium is nice and Buxton is pleasant with little shops, parks and some good pubs, making it a perfect away day. Ground review by FC United fan - Richard Jones.
