MARGY: "IT'S GREAT TO BE BACK!"
PLAYERS LOOKING FORWARD TO FRICKLEY ENCOUNTER

Gigg Lane will finally see some FC United action on Weds 27th Jan when Frickley Athletic are the visitors. It seems such a long time since FC last played at home, when Retford ran out 4-2 on a highly charged and emotional afternoon.

The game on Wednesday gives FC the chance to kick start a push towards the playoffs, which remains a very realistic prospect, despite the current lowly league position.

New boys Adriano Rigoglioso, Kyle Jacobs are all available to make their home debuts for FC. Right-back and midfielder Kyle Jacobs has signed from UniBond Premier Division rivals Kendal Town, attacking midfielder Adriano 'Celi' Rigoglioso has joined from Colwyn Bay.

Assistant manager Roy Soule worked hard to help secure these new signings and he feels that they have fitted in well. He said "I've known the new lads for some time and they're not strangers to each other. Kyle knows a few of the lads such as Carlos and Jerome because he played with them at Oldham Athletic.

"I've known Adriano since he was a kid and he's settling in well. There's an excellent team spirit within the squad so it's not been a problem for any of them to settle in quickly."

Last season's games against Frickley saw FC gain 6 points, with a 3-1 win at the GMB Stadium followed up by a 2-0 at Gigg Lane. The away game was notable for the kick off being delayed by around an hour due to the FC team coach getting stuck in traffic en route to the game.

From the 12th of December to 23rd of January there have been only 5 games played in the whole of the UniBond Premier. This will make the run in to the season pretty exciting, with the league as close as it is, and with many games to be played in a relatively short period of time, it is all to play for.

NEW BOYS
HAVE FITTED
IN WELL

Only 12 points are between FC and a play off place and with the reds only having played 17 games, there is plenty of time for a surge up the table to those end of season nerve jangling play offs.

Make sure you don't miss out.

FOCUS ON... ADRIANO RIGOGLIOSO

He began his career as a goalkeeper with Liverpool, and played in the same youth team as Michael Owen amongst others. However, he did not make the grade and joined Marine.

He was signed by Morecambe in the summer of 2000 where he was limited to a few substitute appearances.

He moved into midfield for the 2001/02 season, and had a more successful run in the side but could still not be considered a regular. The following season, he was moved further up the pitch, and formed a formidable partnership with Wayne Curtis in a Morecambe side that made the Conference play-offs.

At the beginning of the 2003/04 season, he joined Doncaster Rovers but this did not go as well as he might have hoped.

• New Lads: James Holden, Adriano 'Celi' Rigoglioso and Kyle Jacobs

He did not feature in the first team to any great extent, and during the 2005/06 season he spent an unsuccessful one-match loan spell at Southport.

He rejoined Morecambe in March 2006, initially on loan and was given a full contract for the 2006/07 season. He spent October 2006 on loan at Forest Green Rovers managed by former Morecambe manager Jim Harvey. On his return from that loan spell, he was put straight back into the Morecambe first team, in the withdrawn striker role that previously had worked so well for him.

Rigoglioso was released by Morecambe on 24 January 2007 and signed for Forest Green. He went on to make over 50 league appearances for them but was released at the end of the 2008/09 season.

At the start of the 2009/10 season, Rigoglioso signed for Grays Athletic before being released in November. He was then signed by Colwyn Bay in the UniBond North followed by his signing for FC on 31 December 2009.

His nickname, given to him by his family, is Celi after the Italian easy-listening popstar Adriano Celentano, famous for his chart hit "Una Festa Sui Prati", in English, "A Party on the open area of grass"

LAST TIME OUT...

A late equaliser cost FC United three valuable points as they drew 1-1 with ten men Stocksbridge Park Steels in Sheffield on Saturday afternoon.

Carlos Roca put the Reds into a deserved lead just after the hour mark but despite creating several good chances United failed to put the game to bed and the South Yorkshire side clinched a hard fought leveller at the death through Andy Ring. In the 61st minute, United made their pressure count. A fast flowing move saw Ludovic Quistin link up well with Cottrell and Wright before Wright sprayed a ball into the box which Yoffe flicked on to Roca on the right wing. Roca dummied his marker, cut inside before firing low and hard underneath Scott.

Then, with just two minutes remaining, Stocksbridge gained what seemed like a soft free-kick out on the right wing. Substitute Mark Ward whipped a ball into the box, where a home player headed towards goal, Ashton could only parry the ball across the goal line and Ring gratefully turned the ball home past the despairing keeper.
