Match Report
First 20 minutes dominated by FC United with goal scored by Frank Van Gils after a deflected shot by Jonny Poizer, Frank reacting in the box to score.
Lancaster quickly came back into the game and created a number of clear chances before equalising around 25 minute mark with a shot from left hand side of the area. Lancaster having the best of the chances and looking more dangerous in second period of the first half.
Very close and physical first half with both teams cancelling each other out. Half Time score 1-1.

Second half began in similar vein to first half with both teams playing exciting football but cancelling each other out. Standard of both teams was very high and both teams were committed and giving 100%.
FC United received a free kick just inside the Lancaster half and free kick was delivered in by Michael Taylor, headed down in the area by Jake Shawcross and finished with aplomb by Calum McGlynn from 12 yards out to make it 2-1 to the away team, with 10 minutes left.
Lancaster were pressing for the equaliser and the ball broke to Lancaster number 8 in the area in dying minutes, who was 1 on 1 with FC United GK. Ball was well struck but GK Ben Jupp pulled off a superb save to keep his side in front at 1-2.
From the resulting corner, Lancaster GK travelled full length of the pitch to try and attack the ball and gain a point for his side. From the corner the ball landed to FC United’s Calum McGlynn who immediately launched the counter attack by spraying a 40 yard diagonal pass to Justin Johnson on the right wing. With no GK, Justin Johnson drove the ball at the remaining Lancaster defender then played a pass into the path of Jake Shawcross to finish in an empty net with the last kick of the game.

Final Score: Lancaster & Morecambe 1 - 3 FC United Scholars

Goalscorers for FC United: Frank Van Gils (10 mins), Calum McGlynn (80 mins), Jake Shawcross (90 mins).
