Nathan Burke agrees terms with FC United

Nathan Burke agrees terms with FC UnitedFC United are delighted to announce that we have agreed terms with 24 year old midfielder Nathan Burke, who joins us after a very successful four years with Bala Town, and prior to that nine years at Liverpool FC.

Adding to an already strong midfield, Nathan has got a reputation as a very competitive player and with a very strong grounding in the game having come through the academy system at a Premier League club, and playing week in week out at a team which qualified for the Europa League.

Speaking exclusively to Ben Hughes of FCUM Radio, Nathan was asked about his favoured position and style of play: "I’m a box to box central midfielder who can get a goal but I also enjoy the nitty-gritty side of the game, tackling and regaining possession of the ball.

“Last season was a the best season we had at Bala and were third when the season ended prematurely. I played week in and week out and to get a good run of games in such a strong team was really good.

“I’ve been at Bala for four years and leave on good terms. I heard that FC were interested, I knew all the story of FC and know the ground and the facilities. When I spoke to Neil Reynolds it appealed straight away and I wanted the move.

“The standard of the NPL is really good. You’ve got many other great sides in the league and we want to be in and amongst it come the end of the season. Our ambition is to push all of them all the way for the title.

“It’ll be good to meet the lads to get to know them through pre-season but obviously I can’t wait to get playing at Broadhurst Park in front of a great crowd, it’ll be fantastic, I can’t wait to get in and express myself."

Neil Reynolds added: "This lad is exciting, he’s exceptional, he’s grown up through professional football and is a real talent, and he’s at a great age and he wants to better himself and through the English game is the way that he wants to do that.

“There were many clubs after him but we got talking about FC and while I can’t give him a tour of Broadhurst Park I asked him to watch some of the YouTube videos to get a feel for the club and he watched them all.

“He wants to be part of it and while we’ve got a very strong midfield, I wanted something else because in some games we had to adapt our style.

“Nathan can play as the number 10, he can play as the deep-lying midfielder, there were games last season where we had the midfielders playing when perhaps they needed a break but they had to play through, so signing someone with the calibre of Nathan we’ve now got three of the best if not the best three midfielders in the league with Potts, Griffiths and now Nathan Burke and I’m sure that our fans will be wowed by what he can bring to the table."
