NEW SIGNING: Curran signs on Loan

NEW SIGNING: Curran signs on LoanWe’re delighted to announce signing on a month-long loan of attacking midfielder Alex Curran from Stockport County. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Stockport for their professionalism in allowing us to get this deal done, and especially thank manager Jim Gannon. We had been trying to get this over the line for a few weeks but a number of injuries meant that they couldn’t afford to let him go, but we finally got news this morning that the deal was on.

FC manager Neil Reynolds said "I am absolutely delighted to sign Alex on loan for FC, we along with a number of clubs were very keen to sign him in the summer as one of the hottest properties in non-league, but the lure of playing full-time for Stockport on a long term deal was too strong, so to now have his services at our disposal is fantastic. Alex is a very attacking player who can play down the middle, coming in off the wing or as a #10, so he’s going to really bolster our attacking options. In addition to being a great talent, he’s a level-headed lad and meets the criteria for any player that comes to FC, they have to be able to improve the squad and be the right calibre of individual, Alex is certainly both and I can’t wait to work with him".

Alex signed for Stockport in the summer, after having two incredible seasons at Colne for whom he appeared 87 times and scored 43 times from midfield, after signing from Blackburn Rovers. Alex won the Evo-Stik West Division Player of the Year in both seasons at Colne, and last year won the Colne Player of the Year award. Upon his transfer to Stockport, Colne Chairman Ryan Haigh said "We are delighted Alex has got the move he wanted into full-time football. His performances over the last two years have been nothing short of outstanding and his personal record speaks for itself".

Welcome to FC Alex!

NB: At the time of writing the deal is agreed between FC and Stockport, but we’re waiting clearance from the FA that he’s registered in time to go into our squad for tomorrow for the trip to Stafford - we are hopeful that news from the FA will be positive and will release a further statement via social to indicate whether we’ve been successful tomorrow.

Alex will not be available for FA Cup games for FC to avoid him being cup-tied.
