FC United unbeaten in three with draw at Lancaster City

FC United unbeaten in three with draw at Lancaster CityFC United picked up a hard fought point on a wet, blustery night in Lancaster with a 0-0 draw despite finishing the game with 10 players.

Lancaster set their stall out early with a couple of robust challenges that only resulted in cautions when some officials would have shown red.

The first half was short on clear chances, Matty Blinkhorn shooting wide for the home side and Paul Ennis also shooting wide as well as sending a free-kick over the bar.

Just after the half hour, Saturday’s goalscoring hero Tunde Olowabi had his first sight on goal from a Craig Carney cross but his shot was blocked.

The Dolly Blues started the second half the quickest, Jason Walker testing Paddy Wharton but the keeper was equal to the shot.

Just before the hour, Walker looked to break but he was superbly challenged by Aaron Morris. Five minutes later Morris was involved at the other end but his goal bound shot was blocked.

As the game closed out Jack Armer headed over when well placed but on 83 minutes the game boiled over when Luke Griffiths was given his marching orders for what appeared to be a stamp on a prostrate home player.

Whilst he can have no complaints about the card, it must have aggrieved him considering some of the unpunished challenges in the first half.

Despite being down to 10 men, FC United finished the strongest of the two sides and were unlucky not to take all three points on 87 minutes when a Regan Linney free-kick was pushed wide by Sam Ashton.

Overall the point was well deserved as FC United stuck to their task well and could have snatched it right at the end.

Website man of the match: Aaron Morris. Almost flawless at rightback, some great challenges and interceptions coupled with strong forward runs.
