Young Reds ready to impress at Darlington

Manager Neil Reynolds has selected four of FCs Under-21’s team to join the squad for our away trip Darlington on Saturday - with three likely to be in the starting eleven.

Joining the squad is Jack Grimshaw, Jan Palinkas, Will Ozono and Mark West.

Mike Potts also returns to the squad following injury.

Jan Palinkas

Jan came into our Academy at the age of 16 years. He played for Swinton F.C and attended The Albion Academy. Jan is about to successfully complete his 2 years in our academy studying a BTEC Level 3 and training full time.

During his 2 years in our Academy, Jan made his first team debut in his first year. Since then he has been in and around the first team squad and playing consistently for the under 21s where they currently sit top of the league.
21 appearances out of max possible 22 in League + League Cup. Started in all 21 matches.

Jack Grimshaw
 
Jack is a 1st year UCFB student. Previously a Port Vale scholar prior to enrolling at UCFB. Captain of the University team which recently gained promotion and has been captain of the successful FC United u21 team. Hard working and consistent CM player that plays with maturity in his game. Recently been part of the FC United 1st team squad and has already benefitted from this opportunity.

Will Ozono

1st year UCFB student. Ex Crystal Palace Academy player up to u16 level. Recently helped UCFB win the 3A Bucs league scoring 9 goals and assisting 9 further goals in 10 games. Will demonstrates outstanding pace and mobility and has qualities that could enable him to be an excellent player. Great attitude and desire to develop. Will can play either as a CF or from a wider position
 
Mark West
 
Mark is a 3rd year UCFB student that was a previous Academy player at clubs in the west country. An infectious midfield player that can equally play in an advanced role. Mark was part of the England 6 a side International team. Mark has scored 4 goals and assisted with a further 4 goals in helping UCFB win the University league. An important player for the U21 group that has helped them reach the top of their league.


Dominic McHale, Danny Morton and Bob Harris have now left the club. Dale Whitham has been recalled to Chorley after his loan spell at FC.

Harry Winter is still serving a three-match suspension.
