FC United awarded M&S Energy Fund Grant

FC United awarded M&S Energy Fund GrantFC United of Manchester are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a £12,000 grant from the M&S Energy Fund - The M&S Energy Fund will help the Club to redevelop the area underneath the St Mary’s Road End of our ground at Broadhurst Park.

We are set up as Community Benefit Society and we already undertake a wide range of community activities from sports development for young people to social activities with older adults.

The new development will help us expand and will be used by a wide range of community groups for activities such as exercise classes, Little Kickers football, table tennis, weightlifting, stroke association exercise classes and youth clubs.

Receiving the M&S Energy Fund grant means that we can now install enhanced energy efficient measures during the redevelopment, that will allow the Club to:

  • Reduce our energy costs which will enable further investment into the Club and its community programmes;
  • Allow the facility to open more frequently throughout the week, providing a community space for both our supporters and our local residents;
  • Help to promote increased awareness of resource efficiency.

    The Club would like to thank everyone that voted and supported our project. Sam Mullock, chair of the Club board, said “A massive thank you to all supporters and local residents that have voted and promoted our project. This is an incredibly exciting project for everybody involved and the M&S Energy Fund will enable us to incorporate significant energy saving measures, which over the next few years, will make a huge difference in how we can operate the new multi-functional community space. We can’t wait for the space to open next year.???

    FC United received a total of 6,771 votes, the highest in the UK, and were winners of the North West Region. St. Andrews CE Primary School in Boothstown received 6,308 votes and were also awarded £12,000 as they were one of the four Judge’s Winners.
