FC United slip to narrow defeat at Chorley

FC United came away from Chorley with no points after a weather affected lacklustre game where one goal was always going to win the game, that winner coming on the 72nd minute from home side loanee Nick Haughton.

The first chance of the game fell to FC when Sefton Gonzales played in Tim Kinsella who rolled his shot wide of the far post. The home side had a great chance on 5 minutes when a long ball from the back played in Marcus Carver who crossed to his partner Jason Walker who blasted over when well placed.

FC had a couple of chances at the other end, Gonzales heading over and Craig Linfield firing over. Adam Blakeman called Lloyd Allinson into action for the first time when he poked the ball goalwards but the keeper pushed it wide.

On 19 minutes Kinsella worked himself a good chance when he turned in the box but dragged his shot well wide. Just before half time FC United came close when a free kick was bundled goalwards by Danny Brady but the ball came back off The Magpies bar.

As seems to happen on a regular basis FC started the second half slowly and should have been a goal down within two minutes of the restart. Carver was played in one on one but he fired straight at Allinson when he should have done better.
Just after the hour Lindfield did have a sight of goal but his chip drifted over the bar.

Chorley were in the ascendancy and dealing with the conditions better and it cane as no shock when they took the lead. A scramble in the FC box saw Allinson save well but FC failed to clear the hall which fell to Haughton who shot low into the net.

The day got worse in the 89th minute when another red card was picked up, this time by Zac Corbett. The Reds won a free kick in their own half but a melee ensued which saw Corbett receive a straight red for his part in the proceedings.

Website man of the match - Danny Brady. A game in which no player stood out, Brady stayed firm and did well in the preferred position.
