All I want for Christmas

Manager Karl Marginson admitted that his perfect Christmas present would be for FC United to somehow get back in the FA Carlsberg Vase, but other than that getting the league campaign back on track would do nicely.

Such has been the success of the new club that Reds are currently going through their worst run of form ever, having lost two and drawn one. But Margy is confident that they can put things right over the festive period starting with a win at Flixton on Saturday.

Margy said: "It’s an important game, results wise it’s the worst run we’ve ever been on, so we need to address that and it starts tomorrow. The most important thing is that we get ourselves back on track."??

United may have to cope with being without first team regular Josh Howard who is suffering with an abscess on a tooth, but Margy knows that he has got players such as Jamie Phoenix who can step in should the former Manchester United youth team player be unavailable.

Jamaican under-21 international Maty Taylor should be back after pushing through the pain barrier with a leg injury a heroic performance two weeks ago against Quorn in the FA Vase and captain David Chadwick will be eager to get back in action following his one match suspension.

Despite the disappointing exit from the Vase Margy is upbeat about what the team can achieve in 2007. He said: "There was a lot of positives to be taken from that game. It wasn’t like the Atherton Cols game which was a disgrace, everyone gave it their all and I was proud of my players."??

And Margy added: "The atmosphere was unbelievable that day, how 1,800 people can make that noise I don’t know, but the players are keen to get back out there and repay that support."??
