Club receives planning consent to provide additional space at Broadhurst Park

FC United has received planning consent for the siting of two temporary storage cabins and a new modular building at Broadhurst Park for a temporary period of up to 18 months.

Full details of the application can be found on Manchester City Council’s Planning Public Access System under reference number 110364/FO/2015/N1 See http://pa.manchester.gov.uk/online-applications/

In brief, the two cabins are already on site and will be used to provide more space for important elements of our operation such as kit, equipment, academy and merchandise. We are required to ameliorate the appearance of the cabins and this will be done through a suitable painting / planting scheme. There will be a call out for volunteers to assist in this soon.

The modular building will be located adjacent to the hedge line on the grassed area just north of the main entrance into Broadhurst Park. The building, which has been donated by a member, will be used during the week by our football academy and for additional operational and community use. On match days it is envisaged the building will be utilised to retail merchandise and offer additional catering. Again we are required to ameliorate the basic appearance of the building and a call out to volunteers will be made to assist once the building is on site.

The application was approved unanimously by the Planning Committee with one local councillor expressing very positive views on the work FC United strive to progress in the community. The club would like to express its appreciation to the city council for the co-operation and support it has received during the application process.

Supporters may also be aware that we are working to submit an application to amend the current planning condition which prevents us playing home matches when there is an event at Sports City. There is a considerable amount of work being done to assess traffic movement and travel patterns on match days and we hope to be in a position to submit an application early in the New Year. In the meantime we would remind all supporters that it is incredibly important that we comply with the terms of the agreed Travel Plan and look to travel to matches wherever possible in a sustainable manner (public transportcyclingwalking etc) and if travelling by car to only park in the parking locations identified in our travel hub at http://www.fc-utd.co.uk/travel/hub

Any supporters wishing to volunteer to assist in the required ameliorative works to the temporary buildings should contact FC United’s Project Manager Dave Payne at projectmanager@fc-utd.co.uk In particular we will be looking for anyone with joinery/painting/landscaping-planting skills.
