FC United welcome the Buxton Blues for FA Cup thriller

FC United welcome more Blues to Broadhurst Park this Sunday as Buxton are our guests in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup.

After successfully fighting back to beat Witton Albion in the previous round two weeks ago, Karl Marginson’s side will want to keep the red flag flying high by getting into the fourth and final qualifying round for the fourth time in the club’s history.

The match poses some real on pitch dilemmas. Some Reds might like to see Margy and the team take a conservative approach against familiar opponents who have the upper-hand in 15 previous meetings with six wins compared to the Reds’ five.

However, other supporters may prefer FC United stick to their principles and go all out to attack. No one will want the Reds to labour to victory but if that’s what is required to beat the Blues then the FC United faithful would most probably vote for it, given the chance.

The oldest cup competition in the world offers Karl Marginson’s team another fantastic opportunity to put themselves in the spotlight and publicise to the powers that be what people can collectively achieve.

Buxton are currently third in the Northern Premier Division and will prove tricky opponents. But the Reds will need to stick to their task and not get distracted by the Blues, who will obviously want to take advantage of them.

FC United of Manchester versus Buxton in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup is this Sunday, unfortunately. But it’s a three o’clock kick off and it’s pay on the gate, just as football should be.

Get yourself to that football ground and cheer on the Red revolution that always aims to challenge the status quo.
