FC United eager to make amends for midweek 'horror show' by beating Brackley Town

FC United eager to make amends for midweek ’horror show’ by beating Brackley TownFC United coach Darren Lyons says all of the players are raring to host Brackley Town at Broadhurst Park this Saturday after losing 3-0 at Chorley on Tuesday night.

Lyons said: “It’s an old cliché but when you fall off a bike, you just want to get back on as quickly as possible. We all know that Tuesday’s performance wasn’t good enough. It was a horror show to be honest. Too many players had a bad day at the office and too many mistakes were made. Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.

“But we want to draw a line under it and move on. We’ve had a couple of group chats about it and we’ve spoken to some of the players individually. Everyone knows we need to improve and in what areas. Before Tuesday night, I thought we had been improving in each of our previous three games. The Tamworth manager told Karl (Marginson) that we surprised him with how good we were but we also feel that we can play a lot better than we did last Saturday.???

FC United are still searching for their first win after starting life in the Vanarama National League North with three defeats and a draw. Our opponents Brackley have fared slightly better with one win, two draws and a defeat and currently lie in 15th place, compared to the Reds’ 21st.

Tom Brown will miss at least two weeks of action due to pulling his hamstrings against Tamworth, Matt Walwyn is still unavailable, also due to a hamstring problem. Meanwhile, Mike Norton is on his honeymoon, and James Knowles is still on the long term injury list after breaking his leg last season.

Jerome Wright is available for Saturday’s game before starting a five match suspension for being sent off twice in a week. In better news, centre-back Chris Lynch is back in training and likely to be available for first team duty in the next week or so.

FC United versus Brackley Town is this Saturday at Broadhurst Park with a traditional and supporter-friendly kick off time of three o’clock. It’s pay on the gate as we prefer it with admission prices at £9 for adults, £5 for concessions and £2 for under-18s. Get yourself to our football ground and help the players achieve their first win of the season.
