FC United v SL Benfica - match arrangements

FC United of Manchester will play SL Benfica in an international friendly at Broadhurst Park on Friday 29 May 2015 with the kick off time of 7.45pm.

We are yet to be granted occupancy of Broadhurst Park. Building Control has therefore stipulated that the Benfica match shall be run as a second ‘test event’ at 100% capacity.

There are a number of outstanding items that need to be tightened up. The two main items are traffic management and the control of the capacity in the main function room bar. We are working with Building Control to address these matters and ask for supporters’ cooperation and assistance whilst satisfactory solutions are achieved. To control the capacity in the main function room bar, we are implementing the system we used to great effect for the ‘main stand inn’ at Gigg Lane, with tickets issued to supporters on a first come first served basis. Please note that there will be no alcohol served in the function room at half time in order to ease the pressure on this bar for this game.

We have also brought forward the establishment of a bar under the St Mary’s Road end of the ground. This bar will be operated by volunteers as a bottle and can bar. Our licence requires that all bottles and cans need to be consumed in the bar area under the stand and are not to be taken onto the terrace.

We are very grateful to the large number of supporters who observed the requests to travel by public transport to the test event on 16 May. It is absolutely vital that this observance continues. If you cannot avoid using a private car then please use the park and ride facilities and St Matthews School and the MCMA. Free shuttle buses are available from MCMA and from the city centre via a free First Bus football special service. The details of this free service are as follows:

Departing
STOP TE on the corner of Lever Street close to its junction with Stevenson Square in the Northern Quarter.

18:30
18:45
19:00

There will be no stops between Lever Street and Broadhurst Park.

Drop-off
Broadhurst Park, Lightbowne Road side only.

FC United stewards will be in position to assist and direct fans.

Pick up
The same pick-up point after the match on Lightbowne Road will be used.

Buses to be in place from 21:45.

FC United stewards will be in position to assist and direct fans.

There will be no stops between Broadhurst Park and the final drop-off point at Lever Street / Stevenson Sq.

Supporters travelling from the city centre to the match are strongly encouraged to use these football special buses. They will help the club ease congestion around Broadhurst Park, are a more economical way of travelling to the match than by car and they are FREE!

Further information on travel options to Broadhurst Park are available on our travel hub at http://www.fc-utd.co.uk/travel/hub

In order to reduce the disruption to local residents, we cannot emphasise enough how important it is to observe the requests regarding considerate parking. Specifically supporters should not park on St Mary’s Road, Moston Lane, or the roads off them. Your cooperation and assistance with this is much appreciated.

Before the game, we encourage all supporters to get there early as a sell-out capacity crowd is expected. The turnstiles open at 6pm.

Please note that this is an all-ticket match and there will be no cash admission on the night. Entry is by ticket only and all tickets have been sold in advance.
