Stourbridge game ends season with yet another record Development Fund collection

Well, the cat’s out of the bag, the rabbit’s down the hole, stable door shut and horse bolted, the rotund person is belting out opera songs and it’s finally sunk in, that we have won the league. And this is the final matchday fund raising report for this season.

And what a way to end it, with yet another record collection for the club’s Development Fund of a fantastic £2,013

A season best of 1,315 tickets were sold on the night, so after deducting the winner’s £200 a very healthy £1,115 went into the DF. The winning numbers were as follows:

144 took the £200 which was claimed on the night and £50 given back to the DF.
1896 won the Fudge Village hamper and is not yet claimed.
1446 wins an opulent breakfast for two at Swampy’s Bogart Hole Cafe and is not yet claimed.

The barrel collection was also another blockbusting record of £898 made up of the following:

- A bag of 20p’s & 50p’s handed in to reception came to £65;
- £70 from our catering team thanks to donations for refreshments in the club room;
- £200 from the Stamford PFTG winner donating all his winnings back;
- Another £33 from Marlene’s Christmas card sales;
- £20 from a supporter wishing our marathon runner Leanne a speedy recovery from her fall;
- Another £40 from Tim for Euros we collected at the last two games;
- £50 from the night’s PFTG winner;
- £107 from swapping a pile of pre decimal coins, old foreign coins and notes;
- Plus the usual fine assortment of bags of change, notes, coins and a splendid collection of foreign stuff that will be sorted and swapped next season.

All in all, the DF gained a grand total of £2,013 from the Stourbridge game, the highest amount we’ve raised all season. So, the final total for the Development Fund at home games this season now stands at £19,720.

Thank you is just not enough for the support that you have all given to the PFTG draw and the barrels over the past nine months and your contributions really will make a difference and help to finish our shiny new home. We have been nomads for ten years but it’s all about to bear fruit for all the hard graft. The scenes after the final whistle on Tuesday night were amazing - team and supporters celebrating as one.

Truly, this is how it feels to be FC.

Of course, the barrels and Pound for the Ground tickets will be back for our next match . . . against Benfica at Broadhurst Park on Friday 29 May 2015.

We’ll see you then.
